Bicyclist, 77, struck by landscape truck near Holliston High

A 77-year-old man has been flown to a Boston hospital after he was struck by a landscape truck while riding a bicycle near Holliston High School, according to police in the Massachusetts town. The crash happened at about 1:45 pm Tuesday near The intersections of Highland and Prentice streets. Holliston police said the crash involved the bicyclist and a commercial vehicle that was towing a landscape trailer. The victim was found by first responders lying unconscious in the roadway with serious injuries, according to police. The bicyclist was treated at the scene by police officers, Holliston Fire Department emergency medical technicians and Ashland Fire Department paramedics. The victim was then transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center by a Boston MedFlight helicopter. Video recorded by the MetroWest Daily News, a WCVB media partner, shows the Boston MedFlight helicopter taking off from Kamitian Field on the Holliston High School campus.Police said the victim’s condition is unknown at this time.The driver of the landscape truck and trailer, who has not been identified, was not injured in the crash, police said. It is unclear at this time if that driver will face any charges in connection with the crash.Video of the scene recorded by Sky5 shows a truck and trailer at the scene belonging to Colligan Landscaping, a company in Franklin.The Sky5 video also shows a bicycle propped up against a utility pole near some brush near one corner of the intersection. NewsCenter 5 has contacted Colligan Landscaping and the superintendent of Holliston Public Schools for further information but has yet to receive a reply back.Police said the section of Highland Street between Hollis and Prentice streets was temporarily closed while investigators were at the scene of the crash.The crash remains under investigation and Holliston police said no further information is available at this time.
