West Hartford — WEST HARTFORD – Pippin will run at Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road, from July 6 through Aug. 21. This will be the final production in Playhouse on Park’s 13th Main Stage Season. Pippin will be directed and choreographed by Darlene Zoller, with music direction by Colin Britt.

Tickets range from $40 to $50 and group rates are available. Student and senior discounts are also available. Student Rush is $10 (cash only), available 15 minutes prior to curtain. Previews are on July 6 and 7, with all tickets at $20.

Matinees are at 2 pm Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Evening performances are at 7:30 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and at 8 pm on Friday and Saturday. There will be a talk with the cast after each Sunday matinee.

WEST HARTFORD – The Housing Authority of the Town of West Hartford (WHHA) will be accepting pre-applications for three West Hartford apartments in the Project Based Voucher (Section 8) Program now through July 5.

Applicants must be eligible by household size for an efficiency unit (0 bedroom) or one bedroom unit and meet the income and other eligibility guidelines set by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The Project Based Voucher (PBV) apartments are: THE RESIDENCES AT 540 NEW PARK (13 apartment units), 540 New Park Avenue, West Hartford CT 06110; ELM GROVE SENIOR (55+) APARTMENTS, 11 Grove Street, West Hartford CT 06110; and ALFRED E. PLANT SENIOR (55+) APARTMENTS, 759 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford CT 06119.

Elm Grove and Alfred E. Plant apartments have additional eligibility requirements in that the applicant or other adult household member must be at least 55 years of age or older. Household members under the age of 18 may not be part of an application.

The PBV Program is a federally funded program, which provides units with rental subsidies to eligible households. Applicants must meet all US Department of Housing and Urban Development and WHHA income and eligibility guidelines.

The Housing Authority of the Town of West Hartford will use a Random-Draw Lottery System to select 400 pre-applications from among eligible pre-applications. The date and time of your application will not impact the selection or placement on the waiting list. Those chosen in the lottery will be notified by mail no later than Aug. 1. All disqualified or remaining pre-applications not selected for the lottery will be discarded with no further notice. Therefore, if you do not receive a letter by Aug. 1, your pre-application was not drawn.

WEST HARTFORD – Ballet Theater Company seeks four to six professional dancers with a strong ballet background, including pointe work for women, available for the 2022-23 season beginning in August 2022. The company is searching for proficient artists familiar with dancing classical, neoclassical, and contemporary repertoire.

Dancers must have the legal right to work in the United States to be considered. Ballet Theater Company is pleased to offer a competitive bi-weekly stipend, plus a shoe/dancewear stipend and additional compensation for special engagements and/or public appearances.

Interested dancers should send their resume, headshot, full-body dance photo, updated performance reel, and copy of COVID-19 vaccine card (dancers must be fully-vaccinated. Reasonable accommodations provided for those who have an exemption) to BTC Ballet Mistress Emily Silva at emily.silva@dancebtc.org. Audition applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all available positions have been filled. Selected dancers will be invited to attend company class to audition alongside current resident dancers at BTC’s West Hartford studios.

Contract details: 34 weeks of work repertoire including classical, neoclassical, and contemporary works; two full-length, mainstage performances; two mixed-rep blackbox performances at BTC’s Ron & Nancy Compton Studio & Performance Space; gala style performances; and additional community excerpt performances and appearances.
