The actors from the world premiere at Stages St. Louis took a trip to the Japanese Garden.

Check out new photos of the cast of Stages St. Louis’ world premiere of The Karate Kid—The Musical, which begins performances May 25 at the regional venue. The shoot took place in the Japanese Garden at Missouri Botanical Garden.

“The beauty of the Japanese Garden in full bloom provided the ideal setting to showcase just some of the talented creatives responsible for bringing this world premiere musical to life,” said Stages Associate Producer Andrew Kuhlman in a statement.

The previously announced cast includes Jovanni Sy, John Cardoza, Kate Baldwin, Alan H. Green, Jake Bentley Young, Jetta Juriansz, and Luis Pablo Garcia.

Included in the ensemble are Manik Anand, Trevor James Berger, Leah Berry, Caitlyn Caughell, Kristina Garvida Doucette, Zachary Downer, Francis Florendo, Kayla Jenerson, Sydney Jones, Josh Hoon Lee, Noah Lentini, Garrick Macatangay, Kelly MacMillan, Mastusaka, Justice D. Moore, Omar Nieves, Jackson Kanawha Perry, Isidro Rafael, Sangeetha Santhebennur, and Victor Carrillo Tracey.

The book is written by Robert Mark Kamen with music and lyrics by Drew Gasparini, choreography by Keone and Mari Madrid, and direction by Amon Miyamoto.

Joining the creative team are scenic designer Derek McLane, projection designer Peter Nigrini, costume designer Ayako Maeda, lighting designer Bradley King, sound designer Kai Harada, orchestrator John Clancy, and music director/arranger Andrew Resnick. McLane and Nigrini were nominated together for a Tony earlier this week for their set design on MJ,

The 1984 film, which starred Ralph Macchio, Noriyuki “Pat” Morita, and Elisabeth Shue, has become a family favorite, spawning a number of movie and television sequels, including Netflix’s current hit series Cobra Kaiwhich features many of the film’s actors reprising their roles.
