What do pigs, plastic jars, and money all have in common? Piggy banks! We had a blast playing a money game and creating piggy banks last week for our Summer Reading program.

This Wednesday, June 15, at 3 pm we will host TaleWise, who will present the program: “Pirates Lost at Sea.” This will be a thrilling, action-packed adventure about a crew of quirky pirates marooned on a desert island. During the program, volunteers picked from the audience will help conduct amazing hands-on science experiments. All ages are welcome to attend.

The following Wednesday, June 22, we will have our annual Rotation Station program, with a small petting zoo, the Brush city workers (who will bring their city equipment), and a leather craft available for patrons to do.

If you are an adult and you love ice cream, then you are going to enjoy the Adults Only ice cream social taking place at the East Morgan County Library District on Thursday, June 16 at 6 pm Come enjoy an assortment of sweet treats with your ice cream, along with an assortment of board and card games. Registration for this program is appreciated. You can register by calling or coming in during our open hours.

The T & T Book and Movie Club will be testing their knowledge on the book, “The Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library,” with a trivia contest on Friday, June 17 at 2 pm The following Friday, June 24, the club will enjoy the movie based on the book, “The Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library,” and decide which they like better — the book or the movie. The next book the club read is “Swiss Family Robinson” by Johann David Wyss.

Teens, be on the lookout for your next TAG activity that happens Monday, June 27, at 6:15 pm Hopefully, weather permitting, you will be outside tie-dying a T-shirt, eating snacks, and enjoying time with your peers. These programs are for teens going into sixth grade and up.

We would like to give a shout out to Trent Peterson, who works at the Brush Secondary Campus as the Greenhouse Production/Landscaping Design instructor, along with his students – using money from the Growing Readers Together Grant and Petteys grant – who put in a new sensory path by the library playground equipment. Children and adults alike have been enjoying the different sensory partitions. It has been a great addition to the library park playground. Thank you again to the Greenhouse Production/Landscaping Design students and their teacher.

The quilt drop off for the library’s 34th Annual Quilt show is quickly approaching. If you have a quilt, you would like displayed in the quilt show, bring it in during the week of June 20 to 25. If you have any questions, feel free to call 970-842-4596.

The quilt show will be held from 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday, June 29 through Saturday, July 2. The show will be closed on Sunday, July 3, but it will reopen on Monday, July 4 from 7 am to 11 am Regular show hours (10 am to 4 pm) will resume Tuesday, July 5 through Saturday, July 9.
